ASP stands for Active Server Pages and it was initially introduced by Microsoft and it has been still using for web development purposes. It is a complex server side scripting language. It was introduced for making dynamic websites and applications. Now-a-days there are many alternatives to ASP such as PHP (Hyper Text Pre Processor) and Perl etc. PHP has reduced the use of ASP because it is very easy to learn and has a large variety of functions compare to ASP. Now anyone who just knows HTML can learn PHP easily, but in ASP you had to learn hard scripting.
